Noor terms of use
These terms govern your use of the Android application Noor, published by LLJ Studios ("we", "us"). By installing or using Noor you agree to them.
Please read section 2 before anything else. Noor is not a safety device and not a medical device, and understanding that is more important than any other term here.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Noor on devices you control. You may not resell, rent, or redistribute the app, or attempt to circumvent its licensing.
2. Noor is not a medical device
Noor is a convenience tool that lets you see and hear one room from another. It is not a medical device, not a safety device, and not certified as either.
- It does not monitor breathing, heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature or any other vital sign.
- It cannot detect a medical emergency, and no alert it produces should be relied on to tell you your child is well.
- No baby monitor of any kind prevents SIDS.
- It does not replace an adult checking on a child in person.
Noor also depends on things outside our control: your Wi-Fi, the battery and thermal behaviour of two phones, and Android's freedom to stop background work. It can fail, and you must not build a childcare arrangement that assumes it will not. Follow the safe sleep guidance from your own health authority.
3. Price, and what this version costs
This version is free and contains nothing to buy. There is no in-app purchase, no advertising and no subscription. We take no payment from you and hold no payment relationship with you.
A future version will offer a single one-time purchase covering conveniences only: pairing more than one camera, the full lullaby shelf, and reviewing nights before the most recent one. It will never be a subscription. Any price will be shown in the app and on the Play Store before you agree to anything.
4. What is free forever
These never depend on paying us, at any tier, in any version:
- Every alert. Crying, low battery, a disconnected charger, and a camera that has stopped responding will never be behind a payment. An alert is the reason this app exists; charging for one would make the free version quietly unsafe.
- Live video and audio from your camera phone.
- Unlimited viewer devices. A second parent's phone or a grandparent's tablet is never a per-device charge.
- Tonight's timeline and your saved snapshots.
A purchase will never remove something that already worked. If you have already paired a camera, it keeps working regardless of what any future version sells.
5. Refunds
This version is free, so there is nothing to refund and no payment to dispute. If a future version introduces a purchase, refunds will be handled under Google Play's refund policy, and your statutory rights as an EU or UK consumer will be unaffected by these terms.
6. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for placing the camera phone safely. Keep it and its cable well out of the cot and out of your child's reach — a charging cable near a sleeping baby is a strangulation hazard. Phones get warm while streaming, so leave the camera phone somewhere ventilated and never under bedding.
You are also responsible for who you pair with. Anyone you let scan your pairing QR code can view that camera until you unpair them.
7. No warranty
Noor is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We have tested it carefully on real devices, but we cannot guarantee it is free of defects, that a stream will not drop, or that Android will not stop it on a particular phone.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Noor is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid for it and €50. (We state a floor because this version is free, and a cap of "nothing" would be neither fair nor enforceable.) We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights always apply regardless of anything in this section.
9. Acceptable use
Use Noor only to monitor a space you are entitled to monitor. Recording people without their knowledge or consent is illegal in many places, and that is your responsibility, not ours.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Noor after that means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law, the publisher being established in France. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of your own country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of the right to bring proceedings there.
