Ironbox terms of use
These terms govern your use of the Android application Ironbox, published by LLJ Studios ("we", "us"). By installing or using Ironbox you agree to them.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Ironbox on devices you control. You may not resell, rent, or redistribute the app, or attempt to circumvent its licensing.
2. Price, and what this version costs
This version is free and contains nothing to buy. There is no in-app purchase, no advertising and no subscription. We take no payment from you and hold no payment relationship with you.
The vault has an item cap, which limits only how many new items you may add. If you first ran Ironbox during the launch period your cap is 200 items and stays that way permanently — we will not reduce it later. Installs after that period have a cap of 30 items.
A future version will offer a single one-time purchase to remove the cap. It will never be a subscription. Any price will be shown in the app and on the Play Store before you agree to anything, and a founding installer's 200 free items remain free regardless.
3. What is free forever
Two things never depend on paying us, at any tier, in any version:
- Exporting your own content, with no item limit.
- Opening and reading a vault you already created. A cap never locks you out of what is already stored.
We will not paywall access to your own files. This is a term of this agreement, not a marketing line.
4. Refunds
This version is free, so there is nothing to refund and no payment to dispute. If a future version introduces a purchase, refunds will be handled under Google Play's refund policy, and your statutory rights as an EU or UK consumer will be unaffected by these terms.
5. Your responsibility for your keys
Please read this one. Your vault is encrypted with a key derived from your PIN. The 6-word recovery phrase shown during setup is the only way to recover access if you forget that PIN. We do not hold a copy and there is no master key, no backdoor and no support process that can restore your vault.
If you lose both your PIN and your recovery phrase, your content is permanently unrecoverable. Write the phrase down and keep it somewhere safe, off the device.
You are also responsible for the folder you choose as your vault location. If you delete that folder, or the storage it lives on fails, the vault goes with it. Ironbox is a privacy tool, not a backup service.
6. No warranty
Ironbox is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We have tested it carefully, but we cannot guarantee it is free of defects or that it will be uninterrupted.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Ironbox is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid for it and €50. (We state a floor because this version is free, and a cap of "nothing" would be neither fair nor enforceable.) We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights always apply regardless of anything in this section.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use Ironbox to store material that is illegal to possess in your jurisdiction. We have no ability to inspect vault contents, which makes this your responsibility alone.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Ironbox after that means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law, the publisher being established in France. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of your own country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of the right to bring proceedings there.
